LHC Chief Justice Enforces Strict Order on Male Staff in Girls Schools and Colleges

After a series of harassment incidents at girls’ educational institutions, Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Aalia Neelum issued a strict directive: “No male staff will be tolerated where females are present.”

She expressed dissatisfaction with the Punjab Police’s handling of the cases and criticized the failure to prevent the spread of a viral video linked to one incident.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Neelum condemned the police’s inefficiency, stating, “Anything can be done if there is a will.”

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar admitted to mishandling a recent suicide case at Punjab University, acknowledging that the required report had not been filed.

The court also dismissed an inadequate report from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), which was only prepared after notice was served.

Chief Justice Neelum ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to probe social media accounts related to incidents at Punjab Group of Colleges, LCWU, and Punjab University.

The Chief Justice stressed that students’ statements should be recorded in the presence of their parents and university officials for transparency.

In response to multiple petitions, she established a larger bench to investigate harassment at educational institutions and the circulation of a fake video involving Provincial Information Minister Azma Bukhari.
