Islamabad Govt Schools to Introduce Cambridge Curriculum
The federal government will launch the Cambridge Education System in Islamabad schools and colleges starting April 2024.The Ministry of Education will offer high-quality education free of cost to students in these institutions.
Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui called this initiative a milestone in raising education standards in Pakistan.Teacher training for the program will begin within the next 10 days, according to Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani.
Grade 6 students can enroll in this program starting from the upcoming academic year.The program will expand to more colleges by the 2026-27 academic year, Secretary Wani announced.
Students will pay no fees until O-level exams and will also receive free textbooks throughout the program.An MoU has been signed with Cambridge University Press and Assessment to implement this initiative effectively.
Rod Smith, Managing Director of Cambridge International Education, expressed support for delivering quality education in Pakistan.Selected schools include Islamabad Model Colleges located in F-6/2, G-6/3, F-8/1, and F-8/3.
The Cambridge curriculum will operate alongside the local education system in these institutions.
Officials predict that students from private schools may shift to government schools for globally recognized Cambridge qualifications.
