Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the ‘Honhaar Scholarship Program’ on Wednesday, marking a significant step in advancing education for the youth. The inauguration ceremony, held at Punjab University, included the distribution of scholarship cheques among students and the launch of an e-portal for seamless access to the program.
The Honhaar Scholarship Program, valued at Rs. 130 billion, aims to support to 30,000 students annually. Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat highlighted the program’s significance, stating it will help thousands of young individuals achieve their academic aspirations.
According to details, over 68,000 students from 65 universities, 359 colleges, and 12 medical colleges have already applied for the scholarship. Under the program, the full tuition fees of undergraduate students enrolled in 4 to 5-year degree programs will be covered.
The scheme is designed for Punjab residents under 22 with a family income of less than Rs. 300,000 per year.
This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring financial constraints do not hinder talented students from pursuing higher education. With the newly launched e-portal, students will have easier access to updates and scholarship disbursements, further simplifying the process.
The Honhaar Scholarship Program is expected to play a transformative role in empowering the youth and fostering educational excellence across Punjab.
