Islamabad and Rawalpindi Schools to Reopen Tomorrow

All government and private schools in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will reopen tomorrow (Thursday) following a three-day closure due to a protest called by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The announcement was made by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi after authorities conducted a clearance operation, dispersing PTI protesters from the demonstration area.

“Schools will reopen from tomorrow (Thursday), and mobile internet services will be restored by Wednesday morning,” Naqvi confirmed.

The schools had been shut since Saturday in response to PTI’s planned protest on November 24, prompting concerns among parents about the disruption’s impact on students’ education.

Parents in the twin cities expressed frustration over the prolonged closure, noting the challenges it posed to their children’s academic progress. While some areas adopted online classes as an alternative, many parents argued that they were inadequate, particularly for younger students, compared to in-person learning.

Normalcy returned to Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday morning, with all road blockages cleared. Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon instructed assistant commissioners to ensure the immediate reopening of all roads and directed cleaning operations at key intersections to restore the city’s functionality.
