QR Codes for Instant Document Verification
The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has introduced a new QR Code system to simplify the verification process for academic documents.
With this initiative, all certificates, result cards, and roll number slips issued by BISE Lahore will feature a unique QR code. These codes can be scanned for instant online verification, making it easier for educational institutions and employers to confirm the authenticity of documents.
The system aims to combat the growing issue of fake degrees, ensuring a faster and more reliable verification process.
Separately, the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) is facing upheaval following a controversy over tampered 2024 intermediate exam results. The incident has led to significant unrest, particularly among students in the pre-medical and pre-engineering streams, who reported unexpectedly low marks.
Protests have erupted, with many students demanding a thorough review of their results.
In response to the controversy, the chairman of BIEK has been dismissed. Sharaf Ali Shah, who currently heads the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), has been appointed as the acting chairman of BIEK to address the crisis and restore confidence in the examination system.
