Punjab’s Delay in Winter Vacation Announcement Sparks Confusion
Although the Punjab Education Department had previously announced that winter vacations would begin on December 20, 2024, and run through January 10, 2025, no official notification has been issued as of December 16, 2024.
Earlier, the provincial education minister had suggested reconsidering the winter break schedule due to the unusually long winter season, recommending that the vacation dates be adjusted.
Despite this, there has been no official communication from the department regarding the change. As a result, parents, teachers, and school administrators are left in uncertainty, waiting for a formal announcement to clarify the situation.
The delay has confused stakeholders and they are eager for an update from the authorities. On the other hand, Sindh has announced winter vacations from Sunday, December 22, 2024, to Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
The 10-day winter break was approved following the decision of the Sindh government’s school education department steering committee. Schools and colleges will reopen on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
