Punjab Unveils New Matric Groups for Health, Agriculture and Fashion

In Punjab, students will now have the option to pursue matriculation in three additional groups.

The School Education Department has announced that three new groups have been introduced alongside Matric Science and Matric Arts: Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Fashion Designing.

Students will be able to choose their preferred group when they enter 9th grade, starting from the academic session 2025-26. The department has also released the subject lists for these new groups.

Data regarding student preferences has been requested from the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and District Education Officers (DEOs). The printing of textbooks for the new groups will be aligned with the number of enrolled students. According to a spokesperson, the initiative to offer diverse subject courses at the matric level has been launched under the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
