Punjab Makes Major Changes to its Annual Exams Policy for Students
The annual test policy for students at all public sector institutions in the province has undergone a significant change as a result of changes made by Punjab’s School Education Department (SED).
The SED has reportedly decided to evaluate students and give them pass or fail status based on their annual exam results.
SED used to promote all students to the next grade before conducting the annual exam for the current grade, regardless of their performance on the exam.
Teachers have praised SED for phasing out previous policies, claiming that students didn’t pay enough attention to exams because of the 100% passing policy.
In order to digitise the student performance and attendance tracking systems in all public sector schools in the province, the SED launched an online portal earlier this month.
The portal was introduced by Dr. Murad Raas, minister of education. According to him, the data of over 500,000 students has already been uploaded to the platform and will first be recorded for students in classes 6 through 10.
