Extended Summer Break Announced for Sindh Schools

Due to prevailing weather conditions, the Sindh government has prolonged the summer break for all schools in the province until August 14.

The Sindh Education Department has announced an extension of the summer break until August 14. As a result, schools, both private and government, will remain closed, with the new academic year scheduled to start on August 15.

“The summer vacation[s] are hereby extended in all public and private institutions under the administrative control of the School Education & Literacy Department till 14 August 2024 in the wake of the heat wave and expected monsoon rains,” the notification read.

Provincial Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah decided to extend the summer break due to the extreme heat and expected monsoon rains. He also stated that schools will organize Independence Day events on August 14.

Earlier, the provincial government had announced the summer break from June 1 to July 31, 2024. However, due to the extreme heat, the break has been extended by an additional two weeks, now ending on August 14.
