Teacher Recruitment Starts In Sindh
A three-member constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) lifted the restraining order on recruiting government school teachers in Sindh on Wednesday, a day after the bench’s formation.
Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha, heading the bench, allowed the recruitment of primary school teachers (PST) and junior elementary school teachers (JEST) across the province. Petitioners raised no objections to vacating the stay order.
The 18-month stay had disrupted the education system, lowering standards and affecting school operations. The Sindh government urged lifting the restriction to proceed with teacher recruitment and enhance educational quality.
Previously, the SHC halted the recruitment process following petitions against the government’s policy, which allegedly discriminated between candidates from different regions by setting varying passing marks. The constitutional bench’s ruling permits teacher appointments to resume.
