MDCAT Retake Exams Marred by Scandal Again

ARY News reported that police apprehended two individuals for allegedly impersonating candidates during the MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) held at IBA Karachi University.

The MDCAT exam, conducted for medical college admissions in Sindh, witnessed the arrest of suspects Abdul Majeed and Qaiser Ali, who were caught attempting to take the test on behalf of other candidates. A case has been registered at the Mobina Town Police Station under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Facilitators Kamran Haider and Mukhtar were also implicated in the case, which was filed based on a complaint from the supervising professor.

Earlier today, the MDCAT 2024 retake was conducted across Sindh, with over 38,000 students participating. The test, lasting three and a half hours, was organized at various centers, including NED University and the University of Karachi in Karachi. IBA Sukkur, responsible for the retest following court orders, confirmed the exam comprised 200 multiple-choice questions.

Entry Points for Test Centers

To facilitate candidates, multiple entry points were designated:

• Karachi University: Metroville Gate, Maskan Gate, and Shaikh Zaid Gate
• IBA Public School Sukkur: Gate No. 3
• Jamshoro Mehran University: Gate No. 2
• Hyderabad Public School Latifabad: Central Gate
• Police Training School Larkana: Main Gate

Authorities directed candidates to avoid bringing electronic gadgets such as mobile phones and smartwatches to the test centers. Candidates were required to bring their original admit slip and one of the following documents for verification: CNIC, Juvenile Card, Passport, Matriculation Marksheet, or Intermediate Marksheet.

Dr. Asif Shaikh, Vice-Chancellor of Sukkur IBA, assured that measures were in place to ensure the integrity of the exam. “The papers are stored under strict security, and special teams were deployed to oversee the test,” he stated, dismissing any possibility of cheating or paper leaks.
