Punjab Eases Uniform Policy for School Students
The Punjab School Education Department has announced a temporary relaxation in school uniform requirements, allowing students to wear warm clothing of any type or color to protect against the harsh winter.
In an official notification, the department stated that students in both public and private schools can now dress in sweaters, jackets, coats, caps, socks, and shoes of their choice to stay warm. This policy change takes effect immediately and will remain in place until February 28, 2025.
The decision comes as Punjab faces a severe cold wave, prompting authorities to prioritize the health and comfort of students. The Education Department emphasized that this measure is strictly intended to shield children from the extreme winter weather.
By easing the uniform requirements, the government aims to ensure that students can attend school without risking their health due to inadequate protection against the cold.
Punjab, like many other regions, is grappling with an unusually intense winter this year. The move has been widely welcomed by parents and educators, who see it as a practical and considerate response to the current weather conditions.
