Punjab Schools Resume with Updated Timings After Winter Break
The winter vacations in the Punjab have now concluded, and schools have reopened, henceforth operating at a modified schedule due to rising instances of the cold wave.
According to the new timings from the Punjab Education Department, schools are now operational between 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, except for Fridays, when the timing will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
This little concession is meant to ease the burden on students and staff from the excessively cold weather during winter. Beyond this, special education institutes receive extension till the 15th day of February regarding uniforms, enabling them to adjust to their environment.
The schedule of the winter vacation was revised upon the recommendations of Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja Rahman on December 18,2024. It was decided that schools will remain closed from December 23 to January 10.
The new timetable is applied to both public and private institutions all over the province. The change was aimed at preventing an uneven break among students and teachers, with a purpose of ensuring consistency and fairness.
The Punjab government had previously announced the national schools would have a long 22-day winter vacation and remarked that December 20 to January 10 would be duly observed.
The combined break made it possible for students and staff to have a well-deserved rest and the chance to recharge during the chill of winter.
Therefore, special timings or relaxing uniforms will now allow the Punjab Department to work the students and staff through any further discomforts arising from the harsh winter.
Schools can now get back into routine. The new timings will not cause any breach but rather provide smooth learning conditions.
