Sindh Government Extends Schools and Colleges Closures due to Floods

Earlier this week, the provincial education ministry announced that all educational institutions in the province would be closed for two days due to heavy rains expected across Sindh.

According to previous notices, all public and private educational institutions will remain closed on August 24th and 25th. Schools and colleges should reopen today. However, the current difficult situation has forced the provincial government to extend the closure of educational institutions.

The government of Sindh has extended the closure of all educational institutions in the province due to flooding and heavy monsoon rains forecast. All public and private schools and colleges in the province will remain closed from August 26-27 due to monsoon rains, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Education.

Educational institutions across the province will reopen on August 29th. The development comes as the state government works to provide aid to millions of flood-affected citizens in 23 disaster-hit areas. Provincial governments have sent Pakistani forces to assist civilian authorities in flood relief. This year’s monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in Sindh province, Killing masses of human beings and detrimental infrastructure well worth billions of rupees.
