Sindh Students Still Waiting for Free Textbooks
Due to administrative delays and heavy rains, Sindh’s government school students have yet to receive their free textbooks, despite the academic year starting on August 15.
The Sindh government’s promise of free textbooks remains unfulfilled, leaving many low-income families struggling. These parents, who enrolled their children to save on education costs, are disappointed that the textbooks were promised but not delivered.
Each year, parents are promised free textbooks, but many end up buying them at high prices to avoid interrupting their children’s education.
The Directorate of Education has cited delays in printing textbooks by the Sindh Textbook Board. Meanwhile, free textbooks are unavailable in public schools but are being sold openly in the market.
