MDCAT Exam to be Retaken

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has made a significant ruling regarding the recent Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Pakistan.

Justice Arbab Tahir of the IHC has accepted a petition challenging the exam and instructed Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) to conduct a new entrance test within one month.

This decision was made after a report from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) revealed that several questions on the MDCAT exam were outside the syllabus.

This isn’t the first time the MDCAT has faced controversy. Earlier, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar of the Sindh High Court directed that the exam be conducted again within four weeks due to complaints of irregularities in the examination process.

Presiding over the hearing with Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, Justice Panhwar emphasized the importance of clarity for students, stating, “We cannot leave students in a state of uncertainty.”

The court’s directive comes in response to multiple petitions alleging discrepancies in the MDCAT exam. The court has underscored the need for a transparent and fair process to safeguard students’ futures.
