Sindh Faces Urgent Deadline to Finalize MDCAT Plans
Due to a lack of coordination between the Sindh government’s health and university departments, the MDCAT examination for medical students remains unscheduled across the province.
The Sindh High Court recently ordered that the test be re-conducted within four weeks following complaints of irregularities. The court designated IBA Karachi to hold the test for Karachi candidates and IBA Sukkur for other regions, but IBA Karachi has since declined involvement.
Despite this, the health department has taken limited steps to resolve the issue, with only one formal meeting held, during which IBA Karachi officially expressed its inability to conduct the exam.
With less than three weeks remaining, no alternative arrangements have been formalized for the 38,041 candidates, including over 12,500 from Karachi.
According to sources, Health Secretary Rehan Baloch has yet to provide IBA Sukkur with written orders, resources, or funding to proceed. Additionally, IBA Sukkur currently lacks a question bank at the pre-medical level, further complicating preparations.
